Checking I'm doing this right

Hi all,

I have a 512gb SSD in my 2012 rMBP. When I created the original bootcamp partition I needed more space on Windows, but things have changed and I’d like to shrink the windows partition down and have more space for OSX.

Windows 10 by the way.

I think the best way of doing things is as follows:

  1. Create a clone of the Bootcamp partition using Winclone
  2. Delete bootcamp partition using bootcamp assistant in OSX.
  3. Recreate smaller bootcamp partition from bootcamp assistant in OSX.
  4. Copy clone onto new bootcamp partition using Winclone in OSX.

Because I’m putting the bootcamp partition straight back onto the same machine - same hardware - I don’t think I need to do anything more complicated…

Am I good to go?

Cheers all!

You have it correct. Make sure to have a good secondary backup in case something goes wrong (on both the Mac and Windows side) since you will be modifying the partition table.
