Made EFI bootable, then can't read the partition

Winclone 6 pro (latest update), Sierra 10.12.6, Windows 10.

Windows side sysprepped. Running Winclone 6 pro, I selected the BOOTCAMP partition. Made EFI Bootable. When trying to Save Image, I get the following error: “Cloning Error: Error reading partition” and nothing.

What is the workaround?

thanks
Matt

I believe this is related to your Boot Camp partition not in the first 4 partitions. This issue is solved in the current beta:

Hey there

You were right! It’s creating the image now. Let’s see where this takes us.

thank you
Matt

Failed to make a pkg though. It made the Winclone image but when selecting it to make a pkg, it fails, with no error reported. It makes a 112kb pkg though.

Matt

Can you try restoring the image and see if that works? If not, please send in the log.

tim

The winclone image does restore, slowly, but with success.

Can you tell me a bit more on how the package creation fails? What is the error message? what does the log show? Do you have enough space where you are saving the package for a copy of the full image?

have a ton of space.

This same behavior is in Sierra and High Sierra.

The log doesn’t show any Winclone related errors, but does have this:

Winclone 6 Month 13 is out of bounds
error 10:43:40.653796 -0400 Winclone 6 errors encountered while discovering extensions:

Can you control click on the package and select “Show Package Contents” and see if the image is inside? It is possible that the Finder is just not updating the file size correctly.

tim

Yes “Windows.wim” is there. The image does deploy just fine through Winclone, but I need it to be deployable. When I go to make it self-extracting, it behaves as if it doing that, but it doesn’t actually install any file. maybe that and the pkg creation failure are related?

MAtt

OK, so we are making progress. If you install the package manually (double click on it and the installer opens), does it restore correctly? If so, the issue is related to how it is deployed. We don’t recommend “self-extracting” any longer, as packaged based deployment has replaced that. Can you try installing the package and see if works manually?

tim

OK perhaps there’s a miscommunication going on here. The Winclone image is fine, but when I go to make a .pkg of the same image, it fails. I need to make a .pkg for deployment.

I’ll direct message you and see if we can set up time for a call.
