Hi, my issue is similar to those posts on “inaccessible boot” migration to newer macs. I would just like to point out that for the tutorial on " Resolving INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE Error after restoring Winclone image" - some updating needed to help people in my situation !
Old Mac: 2013 Sierra MBP
New Mac: 2018 Mojave MBA
Steps I took
-
Follow Mojave Boot camp assistant to create Bootcamp partition.
-
Use WinClone 7 to Restore Winclone 6 image of W10 to Bootcamp partition.
-
Encounter INACCESSIBLE BOOT
-
Follow TwoCanoes tutorial on resolving inaccessible boot by using thumbdrive.
-
Discover that thumbdrive WinPE, having no mac drivers booted, cannot detect D: drive (shows as removable with no partition) - thus cannot continue to follow tutorial.
-
After many hours, discover that Mojave has created its on WinPE partition - this can do exactly what TwoCanoes tutorial describes/Step 5 - plus detect D: drive.
-
Reboot mac, able to boot into W10 on new mac.
Thanks.
