Mkdir is Read Only?

I have MDS setup on an SMB share, and a user who tried to use it today saw this after typing in mkdir /tpm/mnt:

mkdir: /tmp/mnt: Read-only file system

Then when they try to mount, of course it will not mount

This is usually due to the recovery partition being very old. Try running sw_vers in Terminal in Recovery to see what version it is. You can boot to a new Recovery using the key combo outline here:

I’m experiencing the same issue with a new iMac. I ran sw_vers in Terminal
ProductName: Mac OS X
ProductVersion: 10.14.6
BuildVersion: 18G103

This is a new iMac purchased in the fall, so the recovery partition shouldn’t be that old. Any help would be appreciated.
