Updating Partition table failed with exit code 255

Hello,

My system is iMac12,2 (late 2011, 27’’). I am having problems restoring an image of a bootcamp partition (Windows 7 Home) on a 1TB SSD drive, with macOS Sierra (latest) on the OSX partition (of about 700GB) and 300GB Bootcamp partition. The Bootcamp partition was created with Bootcamp Assistant. I see the following error in the logs at the very end of the restore:

The Bootcamp partition also does not appear in the list of bootable partitions when restarting the mac with option key pressed. However it is visible in Disk Utility as well as Finder and even shows up as selectable startup disk in System Preferences. This leaves me a little confused.

What can I do to make the Bootcamp partition bootable?

That is usually a sign that SIP was enabled and Winclone can’t update the partition table. Try disabling SIP and try again.

Thanks, but I already discarded that possibility. The only way I was finally able to get Windows back on the iMac was to use VMWare, use the Bootcamp partition as raw disk and install through the VM. Booting with reFIND. The backed up partition is perfectly useless to me. Any attempts at restoring the image via WinClone result in an unbootable partition.
