Windows Cannot Complete Configuration Error

I am working with a mid 2017 iMac with 3.8 Ghz i5 chip.

I was able to successfully create an image on my old late 2013 i7 iMac. After I got mac set up on my new machine, I was able to run Boot Camp Assistant to create a windows partition. I installed a base W10 system. Switched over to mac and successfully restored my image onto the Boot Camp partition I had created installing Windows 10. When I tried to boot into Windows, it spins and spins at the splash screen until it finally gives the above error. The only choice is to reboot.

I’ve been working with a mac forum guy who’s helped me before and knows his stuff.

We’ve disabled SIP on my new machine, used Disk Utility to create the partition, restored onto it and just to be sure, set it as EFI bootable.

Same results.

I’ve run out of things to try. I may just have to install Windows and built it from scratch. I hate it but I’ve put so much time into restoring it that the benefits have slipped away.

I’d just like to know if there’s anything else I could try or what’s going for next time.
